Shelley Menk, PT, DPT, PWCS

Compassionate Expertise Dedicated to you.
I am a Doctor of Physical Therapy (PT, DPT) and a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Pelvic and Women's Health (PWCS).
Through my residency and board certification, I have completed 2,000 hours of focused hands-on treatment with patients experiencing pelvic floor dysfunction. My board certification also involved completing a detailed case study on a pelvic floor patient, and required passing an exhaustive written exam to demonstrate the ability to treat pelvic floor symptoms in all ages and genders. My specialty is quite rare - there are fewer than 300 of these specialists in the United States, and only a handful in New Mexico.
My advanced clinical training, mentorship and competency assessment deepened my experience in:
-
Pelvic Floor Dysfunction
-
Pelvic Pain
-
Bowel and Bladder Dysfunction
-
Pregnancy and Postpartum Conditions
-
Pelvic Organ Prolapse
-
Male Pelvic Health
In addition to advanced pelvic health training, I have pursued extensive education in:
-
Athlete-specific Rehabilitation
-
Running Mechanics
-
SI joint and tailbone pain
-
Lumbopelvic Biomechanics
-
Orthopedic Rehabilitation
My clinical experience spans outpatient pelvic health, sports rehabilitation, and acute care, including work with complex orthopedic and neurological conditions.
I founded Active Pelvic Health and Wellness in Albuquerque, NM to bridge the gap between pelvic floor physical therapy and sports medicine. I am the owner and sole provider at APH, so there are no handoffs whatsoever - I provide every treatment for at least one hour and every session is exclusively one-on-one. In addition, my treatment program is always tailored to your specific symptoms and goals. I don't believe in giving patients generic handouts or exercises while in my care.
Your physical therapist is likely to be the medical professional whom you will interact with the most. Selecting the right partner to guide your care, recommend local specialists to support your progress, and keep you informed on how to keep your pelvic floor strong and healthy is a critical decision. I believe pelvic health care should be individualized, empowering, and grounded in education. My mission is to provide top notch evidence-based care that helps you stay active without distraction, limitation, or worry.
Yours,
Shelley Menk, PT, DPT, PWCS
